چکیده

We report on longitudinal beam-transfer function BTF measurements at the Advanced Light Source ALS for large phase-modulation amplitudes. As the amplitude of the swept-frequency excitation is increased, the dipole beam response around the synchrotron frequency develops a notch in the amplitude response with a corresponding sharp jump in the phase response. These observations are explained by a splitting of the beam into two beamlets created by the nonlinearity of the forced synchrotron oscillations. This is demonstrated with measurements of the longitudinal bunch proole using a streak camera. We also present measurements of the diiusion rate from one stable island to the other for a xed modulation frequency and compare the measured rates with those expected from Touschek scattering. Finally, w e comment on BTF measurements for sub-and superharmonic resonances. Lattice Model Calibration and Frequency Map Measurements at the ALS

To understand the dynamics in an accelerator it is essential to have a good model representing its realistic lattice. One method used at the ALS to calibrate the linear (coupled) accelerator model is the analysis of orbit response matrices. Recently this method has been combined with frequency map techniques, both in tracking and experiment at the accelerator. Comparing the results of simulated...

Nonlinear Modeling of Bolted Lap Jointed Structure with Large Amplitude Vibration of Timoshenko Beams

This paper aims at investigating the nonlinear behavior of a system which is consisting of two free-free beams which are connected by a nonlinear joint. The nonlinear system is modelled as an in-extensional beam with Timoshenko beam theory. In addition, large amplitude vibration assumption is taken into account in order to obtain exact results. The nonlinear assumption in the system necessities...

Dynamics of nonlinear rectangular plates subjected to an orbiting mass based on shear deformation plate theory

In this paper, transverse and longitudinal vibration of nonlinear plate under exciting of orbiting mass is considered based on first-order shear deformation theory. The nonlinear governing equation of motion are discretized by the finite element method in combination with Newmark’s time integration scheme under von Karman strain-displacement assumptions. For validation of method and formulation...

Synthesis of TiO2-ZnO-ZrO2 Nanocomposites for Nonlinear Optics Applications

A sol-gel technique under ultrasonic irradiation was applied to synthesize ZrO2/TiO2/ZnOnanocomposites. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the successful synthesis of nanocomposites. The strain and crystalline size values of ZrO2/TiO2/ZnO nanocomposites are estimated to be 9.98×10-4 and 17.66 nm, respectively. The linear absorption coefficient of ZrO2/TiO2/ZnO nanocomposites was measure...

Nonlinear Buckling and Post-buckling of Shape Memory Alloy Shallow Arches

In this work, the nonlinear buckling and post-buckling behavior of shallow arches made of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) is investigated. Arches are susceptible to large deflections, due to their slenderness, especially when the external load exceeds the serviceability limit point. Beyond this, loss of stability may occur, the famous snap-through buckling. For this reason, curved beams can be used in...
